FEEA Awards Scholarships to Children of Federal Employees

The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) is an independent, non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance and funds to federal employees and their families. Founded in 1986, FEEA has helped more than 50,000 families from every department and agency in the form of loans, grants, scholarships, and subsidies.

One program offered by the FEEA is the scholarship program, which has distributed over $14 million in merit-based scholarships to the families of public servants. Since its inception in 1986, over 11,000 scholarships have been dispersed. 200 scholarships have also been offered to the children of federal employees who were killed or severely injured during tragedies such as 9/11 and the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma.

One of the winners is Uchechi Ihenacho, who will be attending Princeton University and is sponsored by his mother, Gloria Ihenacho of the Department of Veteran Affairs. Another winner is Taha Shamsie, who will be attending the University of Virginia and is sponsored by her father, Afzaal Shamsie of the Department of the Treasury.
