Risk and Reward of R&D Investments | ODNI

Investing in high-risk, high-reward research and development is a key objective of Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) that contributes to technological advances benefitting the Intelligence Community and mission partners. Using a hyper-telescope, the IARPA's Amon-Hen program has been developing clearer images of GEO satellites far above the earth since 2016. It would be the first functioning hyper-telescope in the world, allowing the United States to take clearer pictures of deep space satellites that are essential to daily communications, GPS, and weather forecasting.
